Where our data comes from
- Weather — Open-Meteo elevation-adjusted forecasts (CC BY 4.0). Model data, not measured snowfall.
- Road conditions — DriveBC Open511 feed, Province of British Columbia.
- Avalanche forecast — Avalanche Canada.
- Events — Showpass and other ticketing partners, plus listings from local venues.
- Deals — submitted by venues and updated by our team. Always confirm with the venue.
- Hikes — distances and elevation gain from VancouverTrails, BC Parks, Whistler Blackcomb and Explore Squamish; drive times from OSRM with OpenStreetMap data; photos from Wikimedia Commons, credited on each photo. Descriptions for hikes farther away are written by AI from the trail guides.
- Highway cams — DriveBC, licensed under the Open Government Licence – British Columbia.
Accounts & privacy
Creating an account is optional and only used to tick off hikes. We store your email, the name you give, a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password and the list of hikes you've marked. We don't sell or share it, there are no ads and no tracking cookies; the only cookie keeps you signed in. Visitor stats are counted without cookies. You can delete your account and everything in it from My account at any time.
